EBSCO Discovery Service – Now available for all staff and students

The library service is pleased to announce that the EBSCO Discovery Service, Full-Text Finder/Publication Finder and EBSCO Research Databases services are now online, and available for all hospital staff and students at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital.

This e-library service aims to combine all the library resources available to our users, presently 22 million papers are available as full text, and immediately downloadable. This also includes 53,000 books which are available either locally or via interlibrary loan. All items can be ‘discovered’ via a single search box, which can be accessed on Clinical PCs, Library Computers or Mobile Devices.

This is achieved by combining all the resources available through the NHS Core ContentMedline CompleteCINAHL with Full TextHealth Business Elite, and ELMS, the East of England Library Management System for paper books.

Where full-text is available, but not held in either Medline Complete or CINAHL with Full text, the ‘Full-Text finder’ will forward you to the relevant resources, and automatically sign you in for full-text downloads.

Resources not available immediately in full-text can be ordered from the library team at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, through a ‘one click’ request system.

Full-text downloads are via your Athens Account, you can browse the discovery service, but you will need an account to download full-text or access resources such as UpToDate or BMJ Best Practice. Sign up at  if you do not already have access.

Over the next few months all library subscription journals will be added to the service individually, wherever possible and we will be asking for feedback from users to increase its usefulness in both clinical and research use. We will also be adding eBooks and other electronic resources to compliment the library physical resources.

We welcome any feedback, or recommendations for improvements at
